Reset Workspace to Clear Demo and Test Data

Last updated January 29, 2026

The Reset Workspace option lets you clear all demo or test data from your workspace so you can start again with a clean slate.

This is commonly used when you’ve been testing Tidyflow, importing sample data, or setting things up incorrectly and want to restart properly before going live.

What does “Reset Workspace” do?

When you reset your workspace, all workspace data is permanently deleted.

This includes:

  • Clients
  • Contacts
  • Jobs and tasks
  • Client requests
  • Files and folders
  • Time entries
  • Comments and activity history

This action cannot be undone.

What stays intact?

Resetting your workspace does not delete your account or workspace itself.

These things remain unchanged:

  • User accounts
  • Roles and permissions
  • Workspace settings
  • Security settings
  • Two-factor authentication rules
  • Integrations and API connections

After the reset, you’ll return to an empty workspace ready for a fresh setup.

Who can reset the workspace?

Only Owner users can reset a workspace.

If you do not see the Reset Workspace option, you likely do not have Owner permissions.
An Owner will need to perform this action on your behalf.

When should you reset your workspace?

Reset Workspace is useful if:

  • You were testing the product and want a clean setup
  • You imported incorrect, duplicate, or sample data
  • You used demo clients or jobs and want to start real work
  • You want to reset everything before onboarding your team

Many firms use this once after testing and before fully adopting Tidyflow.

When should you not reset your workspace?

You should not reset your workspace if:

  • You only want to remove a few clients or jobs
  • You may need the existing data later
  • You haven’t downloaded a backup yet

If you’re unsure, it’s best not to proceed.

How to reset your workspace

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Open General Settings
  3. Scroll to Reset Workspace
  4. Click Reset Workspace
  5. Confirm that you understand this action cannot be undone

Once confirmed, your workspace will be cleared immediately.

After resetting your workspace

After the reset:

  • You can add real clients and jobs
  • Re-import data if needed
  • Set up templates and workflows from scratch

If you’d like help setting things up correctly, you can book a walkthrough or contact support.
