Use this checklist to move your firm off TaxDome without losing client data, saved payment details or a season’s history. It follows TaxDome’s own export guide and the order that keeps clients and staff working through the switch, whichever system you move to. If that is Tidyflow, the matching help for each setup step is at the end. Tick items off here as you go; your progress stays in this browser.
Every TaxDome export arrives as an emailed, zipped CSV, and the download link lasts 24 hours. Save each file as soon as it arrives. You need to be the firm owner, an admin, or a team member with permission to manage that list.
The TaxDome migration checklist
1. Before you start
2. Export your clients
3. Export your work
4. Export your billing
5. Export documents and organizers
6. Keep clients’ saved payment methods
TaxDome Payments runs on Stripe, so saved cards can move to your new Stripe account instead of every client re-entering them.
7. Set up the new system
8. Move clients to the new portal
Your clients learned TaxDome’s portal and app, so tell them early, explain what changes, and make the first sign-in easy.

Subject: We’re moving to a new client portal on [date]
Hi [Client Name],
On [date], we’re moving our client portal from TaxDome to [New Portal]. It’s where you’ll upload documents, sign forms, pay invoices and see what we need from you.
You don’t need to do anything yet. On [date], you’ll get an email from us with a link to set up your login.
Until then, keep using TaxDome as usual. We’re bringing your documents across, so nothing you’ve already sent us will be lost.
If you have any questions, just reply to this email.

Moving to Tidyflow
In Tidyflow, the main setup and portal steps in sections 7 and 8 each have a help article:
- Import clients from a CSV or Excel file, with one contact per row
- Deploy Job templates to many clients at once, with repeat rules for recurring work
- Apply a folder template to every client
- Import customers from Stripe after the data copy, so each client’s saved card or bank account is on file
- Add your logo and customize the client portal
- Invite contacts to the client portal
