Add UK clients from Companies House

Add new clients and keep existing ones up to date with official details from Companies House.

United Kingdom workspaces can search Companies House directly from Tidyflow. Use it to add new clients with official details prefilled, or to refresh an existing client’s record from their company number.

Companies House lookup is available when your workspace’s Base Country is set to United Kingdom; see Which regions does Tidyflow support?.

Add a client from a Companies House lookup

  1. Go to the Clients page and click the + button.
  2. Choose Companies House Lookup.
  3. Pick a search type: Company Number or Company Name.
  4. Enter the number or name and click Search.
  5. On the matching result, click Add Client.

The new client form opens with the official details prefilled. Click Details on any result first if you want to review the full record before adding it.

Update an existing client from Companies House

Open the client and go to their details. In the UK company fields:

  • If the client has no company number yet, click Find Company. Tidyflow searches Companies House by the client’s name so you can pick the right company.
  • If the client already has a company number, click Update from Companies House. Tidyflow fetches the latest registered details and updates the matching fields on the client record.

What the lookup fills in

Results come from the official Companies House record and can include:

  • Company name and company number
  • Company type (for example Private Limited or LLP)
  • Company status (for example Active)
  • Incorporation date
  • Registered office address
  • SIC codes

Where the details are stored

United Kingdom workspaces get extra fields on every client record, including company number, company status, company type, and VAT registration. The lookup fills the Companies House details; VAT registration is not part of the Companies House record, so enter the VAT number manually. You can edit any of these fields at any time.
